UPD Greece: Who is on strike? July 16, 2013

Greece’s public and private sector unions ADEY and GSEE will launch a 24-hour strike on Tuesday, July 16th 2013, bringing the country into a halt. Apart from the public servants also doctors and personnel at public hospital, tourist bus drives, bank employees only to ention a few.

All public services (also tax offices and municipalities) will be closed.

Public hospitals will work with emergency personnel. Mobilization in public hospitals will continue also on Wednesday.

A protest gathering will start at 11 a.m. at Klafthmonos square and continue with a march in downtown Athens.

Public Transport

On 24-hour strike: Trains and Proastiakos. The Metro will not operate up/from the Athens Airport but up/from <Doukissis Plakentias> station.

Bus & Trolley: will operate only between 9 a.m. and 9 p.m.

Metro, Tram and Urban Train ISAP will operate as usual.

UPDATE:  Flights – Civil Aviation personnel will join the strike with a work stoppage between 12 o’ clock noon until 4:00 p.m. Flights scheduled at this time period are expected to have delays or cancelled. Check with your travel agent or directly with the airline.

PS as summer sales begin today (July 15th) you can take the opportunity and go shopping tomorrow.
